My most popular mug! Northwest Style, Angle Dipped Mugs are thrown on the wheel by Meredith at her Fern Street Pottery Studio. The mugs are thrown in a red-brown stoneware clay (stoneware, not terra cotta!) then trimmed to have a finished foot and the pulled handle is added. The shape, which curves in at the top is specifically designed to keep your beverages warmer longer.
The handle is formed and pulled, creating a shape that fits comfortably in your hand, with a perfect groove for your thumb. After drying and firing I glaze these in a glossy speckle white, creamy caramel, light dijon, or rich teal glaze which I dipped at an angle to reveal the beautiful red clay beneath. The glaze design is a tactile experience between the smooth glaze and the natural texture of the exposed clay. They look great in a set of the same colors or a variety of colors. These mugs hold approximately 14oz (14-16oz).
Lead free, microwave and dishwasher safe. Yes, the unglazed clay is completely dishwasher safe, it is vitrified clay and just like the unglazed bottoms of all pottery.
This purchase is for one mug, but more may be available. They are made one at a time so no two are exactly alike, but they are very well matched.
