These mugs are thrown on the wheel by Meredith at her Fern Street Pottery Studio. The mug was thrown in a rich, dark, red-brown stoneware clay (stoneware, not terra cotta!) hand carved, and then a pulled handle was added.

The handle is hand pulled, creating a shape that fits comfortably in your hand, with a perfect groove for your thumb. After drying and firing I glaze them in a rustic speckled white, which "breaks" (=shows through) at the edges to reveal the beautiful dark clay beneath. The carved designs are a tactile experience while holding your mug. This mug holds approximately 14oz.

These hand carved mugs will fit into your Breville espresso maker! (ok, truth be told, that is actually why I made them this size) The mugs are made one at a time so no two  are exactly alike, but they are very well matched and they stack for efficient cupboard storage.

Coffee tastes better in a handmade mug!
